Blackpool

Crown Fields, Westby, 22nd June 2012. Judge: Mrs C E Cartledge.

What an awful day. I really appreciated the sporting way the exhibitors accepted not just my decisions but also the conditions. It was crystal clear the Dandies did not approve of these appalling conditions. The look on their faces when they stood on the table said it all. Movement was quite obviously impossible to assess.

Veteran Dog/Bitch 1st: Morris's Hendell Tassel at Pennywave
7 year mustard bitch, living the good life and carrying a little too much weight. Attractive head, appealing eyes saying 'I’m a Dandie, get me out of here'. Stripped coat, picking her way through the mud and not enjoying herself.

Puppy Dog 1st: Jacka-Slater's Pennywave Lone Ranger
6½ month, good head and eye, has the beginnings of a proper coat, firm body, good bone. Tried hard to get moving but there was quite a bit of hopping. Happy showman. BP
2nd: Marshall & Skitt's Deegandan Dughall
7 month, well grown puppy with large expressive eyes, pleasing head, in his underclothes, well bodied. Lively and bouncy but no coordination and who could blame him.

Special Yearling Dog 1st: Deacon & Pearce's Cassencarrie I Kid You Not
Mustard birthday boy, excellent head, large round eyes, muscular neck, strong body, well muscled hindquarters, good coat. Topline will improve as he matures. Showed steadily, well presented and handled. RCC.

Limit Dog 1st: Miller's Puddockswell Moon Shadow at Dryfevalley
The only one who made a vague attempt at moving with a bit of fluency. Attractive head, excellent coat texture, good body and rib, sympathetically handled.
2nd: Bromley's Mishahda Volcanic Storm
Up to size, masculine head, good bone. Tail carriage rather gay. Well bodied. Not very enthusiastic.

Open Dog 1st: Tinsley's Cloverwood Royal George
Mustard, broad skull, expressive eyes, great character and was all for playing his handler up. Coat in good order, held topline going round and looked well standing, good bone, better front than most, well proportioned. CC.
2nd: King's Ch. Vistca Vian of Hendell
Mustard, really hated the conditions, his facial expression was full of disgust. Good bone, legs and feet, firm body, well conditioned and handled. Movement impossible to assess.

Puppy Bitch 1st: Brookes's Berdinbrook Tea Wynd
11 month, very feminine puppy, came in dry footed but it didn’t last. Good coat and topline, well proportioned. Failed in movement and showmanship.

Special Yearling Bitch 1st: Skitt & Marshall's Duneideann Limited Edition
16 month mustard, quality head, lovely eyes full of expression, fit body, good bone and coat, moved and showed with some style.
2nd: Smith's Glendandy Twinkle Star
22 month mustard but too proud of her tail but today conditions were not normal. Feminine head, focused showgirl standing but not too happy about the wet cold mud when moving.
3rd: Miller's Puddockswell Truly Scrumptious at Dryfevalley
Res: Bromley's Cassencarrie Going Back to Mishahda
VHC: Hansford's Micklam Lemon Sherbet

Postgraduate Bitch 1st: Rasmussen's Dentgate Summer Sunrise
Mustard, coped quite well with the ground. Pleasing head, large eyes, good body and bone, trotted up and down quite well. Handler could make a bit more of her when posed.
2nd: Bell's Kirkhalin Mystic Prudence
Feminine bitch, well fitting coat, firm body, well muscled, showed OK.
3rd: Brookes's Berdinbrook Ecco
Res: Sleight's Cassencarrie Madelaina at Bonnybeck

Limit Bitch 1st: Ray's Dentgate Sweet Symphony
Mustard, good quality and type, sensible showgirl with good attitude, typical head, dark intelligent eyes, excellent coat texture, kept going to the bitter end. RCC.
2nd: Kinsey-Morgan's Inzievar Gold Effect
Mustard, preferred eye and expression of 1. Good bone, body and coat, fair topline. Not great in hind movement but looked quite well once she got herself going.
3rd: Smith's Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy
Res: Heywood's Cloverwood Day By Day at Schalulleke
VHC: Booth's Cloverwood Candlelight at Lannia

Open Bitch 1st: Russell's Ch/Aus Ch. Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill
Good solid performer throughout, pepper, in good form, determined showgirl and never gave up standing there defying the elements and wagging her tail. Splendid coat, good topline and body, muscular neck, well domed forehand, good bone and feet. Did enough on the move to secure the CC & BOB.
2nd: Chapman-King & Hislop's Ch. Inzievar Royal Silver
Pepper, carrying just a shade too much weight. Good coat, typey bitch but not really in the mood to put her best foot forward and picking her way through the deep puddles.
3rd: Deacon's Cassencarrie Miss Grace at Pennywave
Res: Morris's Pennywave Amaryllis
