"The entry of 61 dogs was very pleasing and it was good to welcome a number of newcomers to the Dandie world. The main problem I found was movement. I was particularly surprised to find such a deterioration in hind movement since the last time I judged. Though I feel that over flashy presentation should be discouraged – some of the exhibits could have looked so much better had they been groomed with a little more care. Mouths were good apart from one dog and temperaments were excellent and just stressed what a lovely breed the Dandie Dinmont is. There was a huge variation in eye shapes and colour. Some had eyes which were rather prominent – others that were smallish – and some were rather light. But in a way eye shape and colour are the least of our problems and we need to concentrate on conformation and movement. Size was, by and large, OK."

Minor Puppy Dog

This was a very difficult class to judge with three very immature puppies.

1st: Lowndes's Glendandy Star Catcher

Mustard, good size and shape and had a pleasing head with a good eye but his coat could have been better presented. Moved a bit better than the others in this class when we were able to get him going. By the time of the challenge he was much better behaved. Handler and dog need a bit more ring training

p1110516

2nd: Smith's Glendandy Starmaker

Pepper, heavier made dog and rather more mature than the winner, with overdone head furnishings and very little body coat which made him look lacking in balance. Better in mouth and in hind movement than 3.

p1110488
3rd: Henry's Glendandy Shooting Star for Tymeirz p1110500

Puppy Dog

1st: Tinsley's Cloverwood Royal George

Mustard, typical Dandie with a good head and eye, scored in coat over 2 and presented with a better outline. Moved better behind than in front. BP.

p1110527

2nd: Morris's Cassencarrie Rumour Has It at Pennywave

Mustard, pleasing in head and expression, moved out well. Longer in body which did not help his balance at this stage. Could be better in tail.

p1110533
3rd: Henry's Glendandy Shooting Star for Tymeirz p1110500

Junior Dog

1st: Bromley's Mishahda Volcanic Storm

Pepper, excellent head eye and expression, good for size and balance and moved better in front than 2. Shown in superb coat of good texture. Overall appearance spoiled a little by his tail.

p1110550

2nd: Knapper's Maganbar Applejack

Mustard, scored in head over 3 and was good for size and overall shape. Not in quite such good coat as 1. Moved well behind and had plenty of muscle.

p1110554
3rd: Hughes's Maganbar Magic Moment p1110564

p1110583

Postgraduate Dog

1st: Shore's Swanwillow Sea Captain

Mustard, typical in head shape and proportions with a good eye and expression, correctly smaller than the others in this class and had a good body shape and outline and was good in bone without being in any way overdone. Presented in very good coat and moved out better behind than in front.
