Moffat Town Hall, 24th August 2019. Judge: Mrs Ali Cox-Purcell (Puddockswell). It was a pleasure to judge the Caledonian DDTC Open show and I would like to thank the committee for inviting me and to Angie Miller for acting as my very capable steward. I was delighted to have a respectable entry, although disappointingly there were only a few dogs present. All dogs were well presented, although very few coats were of correct length. I like to see a well balanced dog that is in proportion regardless of its size and there were some very nice examples of this. Movement was generally good and and it was lovely to have some junior handlers to assess.   Best Dog & RBIS Sheppard's Thystine Tayberries Reserve Best Dog Thomson's Dryfevalley Mister Todd Best Bitch & BIS Russell's Hawkesmill Karamel Reserve Best Bitch Heffernan's Clydeheath's Kissy Suzuki Best Puppy Sheppard's Thystine Tayberries Best Veteran Russell's Ch/Aus Ch. Ripon Racecourse, 14th September 2019. Judge: Mrs Margaret MacDonald-Cross. If the standard of quality in Dandies at Darlington is typical, then I was filled with dismay! There was a vast variety of type and size and movement, particularly hind movement was unbelievably bad. The correct breed construction required by the standard was few and far between, plus some very odd colour patterns have crept into the breed giving a look foreign to the Dandie Dinmont. Finally, I was astounded to find a bitch in full season standing on the judging table! I know there were mutterings round the top of my ring reference upset males. Surely this is a very unsporting thing to do and something the KC needs to address!   Dog CC & BOB Chapman-King's Inzievar Gold Issue Reserve Dog CC Denham's Dentgate Mulberry Bitch CC Denham's Dentgate Mulberry Silk Reserve Bitch CC Deegan's Dariant I'Bastet of Deegandan Best Puppy Sheppard's Thystine Tayberries Best Veteran Kinsey-Morgan's Ch. He has a super headpiece, correct bite, eye, expression, ear placement and profuse topknot, strong neck, well laid shoulders and correct front assembly, superb body properties for balance, shape and flexibility, moves soundly and with great purpose. This was his third CC. BOB. A joy to go over. 2nd: Denham's Dentgate Mulberry 2 yrs 9 mths pepper. Was my BP when I last judged the breed. To a great degree he has fulfilled his promise and is a very honest Dandie, excelling in breed type. I have seen this exhibitors dogs better presented in the past and feel this young man would really hit the high spots if a bit more flair was applied to his trimming. A Dandie to be proud of nevertheless! RCC. 3rd: Brown's Great Gatsby ze Zihelske Zahrady Veteran Bitch 1st: Kinsey-Morgan's Ch. Inzievar Gold Effect Now nine and a half yrs, this mustard lady is of very correct breed type, another honest Dandie with good body properties, coat quality, etc., but was completely bored with the whole proceedings, and who could blame her! Lovely lady. Puppy Bitch 1st: Henry's Trinzy Glamour N'Grace Sweet little mustard of 10 mths, was quite timid on the table at first but settled down with careful handling, nice headpiece with dark eye and lovely expression, rather closely trimmed but showing nice body shape, her movement lacked confidence, really good hindquarters, more ring experience needed. Stoneleigh Park, 22nd September 2019. Judge: Mr Mark Ord (Marnadee). I would like to thank The Officers & Committee for inviting me to judge this celebratory 90th Anniversary Championship Show. This was my first time awarding CCs in this breed and felt very honoured to be offered a breed club show. I was thrilled to draw an excellent entry for the club and Thank You to all who brought dogs for me to judge today. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and professionally organized to the last detail. Well done to you all and I wish you all the very best for the future. Special thanks to my 2 very efficient stewards for keeping the running of the ring smooth and effective. My general observations were that the breed characteristics are being maintained by a dedicated small band of breeders and exhibitors. All dogs were in healthy condition and the majority were presented to perfection. Sadly, I did find one undershot jaw and one monorchid dog. I did note a large variation in size in the breed but pleasingly most heads were typical of the breed standard along with eye and ear sets. Some tails are getting longer than desired and this needs watching.   Dog CC & BIS Deacon & Hill's Ch./Am GCh. Pennywise On The Road Again Reserve Dog CC Booth's Ch. Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells, 12th October 2019. Judge: Mr Tim Ball.   Best Dog & BOB Webber's Lilyphanie Great Showman Best Bitch Sheppard's Ch. Dentgate Sugarberries at Thystine Postgraduate Dog 1st: Webber's Lilyphanie Great Showman 18 mth mustard dog with lots to like. As you would expect he is far from maturity but was good to go over and is well made all through. Muscular neck of good length to balance, long body with ribs carried well back, pretty good topline, firm loin and tail of good set and carriage. Attractive head and expression with good breadth of skull, correct proportions, large eyes of good colour and set low down in the skull, ears set on low, strong muzzle and correct dentition. Well made both front and rear with forelegs set wide apart and firm, muscular rear with well let down hocks. Moving freely with good drive from the rear and carrying himself well. Best Dog & BOB. Open Bitch 1st: Sheppard's Ch. Dentgate Sugarberries at Thystine 2 yr old pepper bitch. Feminine girl who appealed for overall type and balance. She scored in outline with muscular neck, characteristic topline, excellent ribbing, muscular loin and tail good for both set and carriage. Quality head with broad skull, correct skull to muzzle proportions, well domed forehead, eyes of good colour set wide apart and low down in the skull, ears set on low, strong muzzle and correct scissor bite. Not quite the front extension of the young male and could have been a little more enthusiastic on the move to advantage. Best Bitch.

NEC Birmingham, 14th December 2019. Judge: Mr David Winsley (Davmar) It was a pleasure to judge this breed who all had lovely temperaments. I found many lacked the correct spring of rib and body condition. Movement in many needs to improve. Coats were variable.   Dog CC Chapman-King's Inzievar Gold Issue Reserve Dog CC Deacon & Hill's Ch./Am GCh. Pennywise On The Road Again Bitch CC & BOB Milton's Ch. Hawkesmill Jenny for Wilmit Reserve Bitch CC McGuinness's Diamondandie Black Diamond Best Puppy Poole's Hawkesmill Merlon Puppy Dog 1st: Poole's Hawkesmill Merlon I like this boy very much, nice size for his age. He has the correct outline and body shape. His head is typical of the breed with large eyes, correct length proportions and well filled muzzle. Muscular neck, good shoulders and straight front. Low to ground, nice body condition with the correct spring of ribs. Correct topline with no exaggeration. Good bone, nice coat, moved soundly especially behind. A happy showman. BP. 2nd: Kerle's Puddockswell Hoodwink Not as good in outline as first. Nice head shape, good eye and ears. Good neck, would prefer him to have a better front. Nicely made body with nice ribbing. Good turn of stifle and correct tailset. Moving quite well behind, in a nice quality coat. 3rd: Deegan's Deegandan Keeping Faith Res: Kidd's Thystine Loganberries with Freestone Junior Dog 1st: Sutton & Desfontaines's Cofgodas Northern Spy He has a nice head with a pleasing round eye and strong foreface, ears a little thick. Good neck, would prefer better shoulder angulation. Mature body, with good spring of rib and low, strong hindquarters. Moving very well behind, in a good quality coat and showed well. 2nd: Kidd's Thystine Loganberries with Freestone Was reserve in puppy, he is nice in head with that special look the breed has. Good overall shape, with a good body, good spring of ribs and good bone. Correct tail set and carriage. Finally decided to walk for his owner and show off his sound movement. Postgraduate Dog 1st: Webber's Lilyphanie Great Showman Nice mustard boy who has a nicely balanced head, correct expression and uses his ears well. Strongly made neck, nice shoulder angulation with one of the better fronts I found today. I liked his balanced outline, good body with a good spring of rib. Nice turn of stifle with a correct tailset. He has a quality coat, showed and moved very well. Limit Dog 1st: Brown's Great Gatsby ze Zihelske Zahrady Pepper who has a nice outline standing but tends to flatten on the move. Pleasing head for proportions and eye. Good front with a good forechest. He has a good body with a good spring of rib and depth. Well made hindquarters which he uses well. He has a very nice coat and showed well. 2nd: Bell's Reidswire Lord O'Liddesdale This boy has a very nice outline, again he has a pleasing head & strong neck. Lost out to first in front. He has a nice turn of stifle with a good tailset, tend to carry his tail a little high. In a good quality coat. Open Dog 1st: Chapman-King's Inzievar Gold Issue This mustard is very nice for type and outline. He has a good head, correct proportions with a good round eye and well filled muzzle. I found the amount of his topknot rather excessive. Good muscular neck, good shoulder angulation and straight front, hair on his front legs a little short. Excellent body shape with the required spring of rib, flexible loin. Nice turn of stifle, tailset correct but does tend to fly his tail on the move. Has a wonderful hard even coat. Showed well. CC. 2nd: Deacon & Hill's Ch./Am GCh. Pennywise On The Road Again Slightly smaller type than first. He has a good outline with a pleasing head, correct eye and well placed ears. Correct body shape but I found him lacking in body condition and spring of rib for me. Showed well as usual, in pleasing coat. 3rd: Harcourt-Morris's Dainty Dandies River Mersey at Lenacourt Res: Booth's Ch. Borderstone Kingman for Lannia Puppy Bitch 1st: Jacka-Slater's Partoncourt Show Me Heaven Won this class as she is more finished than second. She has a nice outline and is low to ground. She has a nice head with a good expression, good in neck, shoulders and front. Her body is well made and would benefit from carrying more body. Well made hindquarters with a good turn of stifle, correct tailset and carriage. Showed well. Litter sister to the Junior winner. 2nd: Wilson's Morawelon Cader Idris Looked the winner to start with but lost out to first in outline. Nice head but just too much topknot for balance. She has a good neck and shoulders, nice front, well made body with a good spring of rib. Moves nicely behind and in a nicely presented coat. 3rd: Deegan's Dariant I'Bastet of Deegandan Res: Brown's Henrietta Harris ze Zihelske Zahrady Limit Bitch 1st: McGuinness's Siwop Secret Wish Mustard who was lacking in furnishings. She is the dam of the previous two class winners. She has a good outline, pleasing in head and expression. Mature in body, in good condition. Her coat is short but of a hard texture. Moves nicely both ways and shows well. Open Bitch 1st: Milton's Ch. Hawkesmill Jenny for Wilmit I have judged this girl before in groups when she has taken my eye.
