'Dandie Dinmont 200 Years' celebration

dd200

A three day celebration is being organised to mark the 200th anniversary of the publication of Sir Walter Scott's 'Guy Mannering'.  The event is being organised independently by Paul Keevil and Mike Macbeth, and is open to Dandie enthusiasts everywhere.  It is not a Club event, but is fully supported by the Club.

The celebration starts on Sunday 22nd February, meeting at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel, Melrose.  On Monday 23rd February we have a visit to Bowhill, home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch, and to The Haining, birthplace of Old Ginger - the ancestor of every Dandie Dinmont alive today.  On Tuesday 24th February there will be a special Service of Celebration for the life and work of Sir Walter Scott, held by his tomb at Dryburgh Abbey, and a "Blessing of the Dandie Dinmonts".  This will be followed by a visit to Abbotsford.

The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is offering a very good discounted rate for Dandie enthusiasts for this event.  And of course Dandies are very welcome for the entire celebration - the more the merrier.
