SDDTC Open Show

Cricklade Village Hall, 14th April 2019. Judge: Mrs Sandra Pretari Hickson (King's Mtn).

Thank you to the Officers and Committee of the Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club for inviting me to judge. Thanks too to my able stewards Laura Noble and Allen Youngs who kept me on track and made my job much easier. And special thanks to the exhibitors who honoured me with their entries. I had looked forward to this day for a long time.

Puppy Dog 1st: Sutton & Desfontaines's Cofgodas Northern Spy
Lovely, long puppy with a pleasing outline and correct jacket. Very nice head and expression with correct proportions, correct scissors bite. Would have like him to move out with more confidence but that should come with experience. Still moved well enough for me to see he was built correctly and overall a very promising puppy whose length should be coveted.

Gorgeous head with correct 3/5 proportions and a skull that filled your hand. Nice dark eye with good pigment. Strong scissors bite with big teeth. Lovely crispy jacket. Good tailset and carriage with balanced angulation. I would have preferred more length but a lovely dog with many virtues. Clean mover around and down and back.

This dog also had a gorgeous head with correct proportions and large skull with good pigment and a strong muzzle with a lot of fill under the eye. Lovely crisp jacket and silky furnishings. Clean mover around and down and back. I would have preferred more length with a slight topline over the loin.

Lovely crisp jacket. Good head with good body, tail set and carriage. Balanced angulation fore and rear. Pleasing expression with dark eye and pigment.

Puppy Bitch 1st: Tinsley's Cloverwood Cressida
This puppy immediately drew my eye as she was stacked on the ground. Good length with correct outline and a slight rise over the loin. Superb jacket for a puppy of her age. Good front angulation, would have preferred more angle in the rear. Lovely pleasing feminine head and expression, strong muzzle, nice dark eye and pigment and scissors bite. I would have preferred stronger movement from the rear which caused her to have more topline than a I would have like going around but overall a beautiful puppy with many virtues to build upon. She went on to be my Best Bitch and Best In Show.
2nd: McLaughlan & Fitzsimmons's Norma Jeane Baker di Luna Caprese at Lanleadane
Pretty head and expression with correct proportions and dark eye and pigment. Well balance angles but would have preferred a more shapely outline going around.

Junior Bitch 1st: Nicholson & Ness's Lady Gloria of Trebarret at Calmarlin
Lovely Jacket and a bitch of good length with correct outline. Balanced angulation front and rear giving her good movement both around and down and back. Would have preferred a stronger head, shorter and stronger muzzle. Beautifully trained and presented.
2nd: Jackman's Dryfevalley Golden Lullaby
Good sized bitch with a happy attitude. Nice dark eye and pigment and a good scissors bite. Would have preferred a stronger head, more angulation and a more shapely outline.

Novice Bitch 1st: Davies's Birbrinda Felicia
A smaller bitch but of good proportions. Very happy and showy. Nice jacket and clean mover around and down and back. Nice dark eye with lovely dark pigment. Muzzle slightly long and narrow.
2nd: Brown's Henrietta Harris ze Zihelske Zahrady
Lovely bitch of good type and length. Balanced angulation front and rear and so strong mover around and down and back. Nice strong head with correct proportions. Undershot.

Postgraduate Bitch 1st: Davies's Loudounhill Tranquil Iona
Lovely long bitch with a correct outline and slight arch over the loin. Pretty feminine head of correct proportion, strong muzzle, good scissors bite. Wonderful angulation giving her strong movement. Nice straight front legs and good amount of forechest because of her good front angulation. In between coats and a bit sparse, but texture could be felt.
2nd: Allenby's Wilmit Mildred Potter for Diddimont
Good length of body with correct proportions. Nicely station bitch with a correct crisp jacket. Lovely head with nice fill under the eye.

Lovely pleasing head with correct proportions and strong skull. Nice dark eye with good pigment, strong muzzle with good fill. Of good length and a pleasing shape. Correct jacket. Nicely trimmed. Could have used more angulation but overall a lovely bitch. This would have been my third best bitch.
2nd: Davies's Meriel's Munnings
Nice head and expression. Very pretty and pleasing. Correct proportions with good skull that filled the hand. Would have preferred a lower tail set and carriage, more length and a more weasely outline.

Open Bitch 1st: Milliner's Dandiroyal Ferrywiggle at Millerim
Very athletic little bitch of good length and good shape. Very well built and could do her job, probably does as her conditioning would reflect. Beautiful front and rear angulation. Out of coat.
