Catching up on news, I hope you enjoyed the 100 Top Dogs. How they decided which breeds to include I’m not too sure, but Dandies slipped in at 100 and to me was the best part - but then I am totally biased. Filming took place at Bowhill where a hardy bunch of Dandies and their owners appeared and some were interviewed about the breed. The Duke of Buccleuch gave an interview giving great support for the breed. It also showed the fashion shoot at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel which was the taster for the fashion show “Barking Plaid” which we who attended in June for the unveiling of the statue of Old Ginger will never forget.
I hope your Crufts preparations are going well. Timing is everything for coats, but also exercise as muscle tone can be lost in the winter months. Paul Keevil, our judge, has a good entry of 67 dogs. Judging will now take place in Hall 1, ring 5, 3rd in the ring which could mean a long wait or on the other hand plenty of time for shopping.
Thank you to Club President Janet Roslyn for compiling the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Points for the DDTC 2017.

An interesting article in one of the weekend magazines concerned actress Arabella Weir with her favourite things, one of which was a beautiful small writing desk said to be bought by her grandmother in the 1920s which belonged to Sir Walter Scott from his home Abbotsford. It was bought from a man who looked after the house, but was said to sell off pieces from the house to pay for his drinking habit. She goes onto say that she once met Duke Richard who as patron of the Abbotsford Trust asked if she would return it. She declined.
