SDDTC Open Show

Chieveley Village Hall, 9th April 2023. Judge: Mrs Vera Harcourt-Morris.

It was a privilege to be asked to judge this show and I really enjoyed my day. The committee made sure that the day ran smoothly, making sure that everyone had a pleasant time.

I had some lovely dogs to go over and was incredibly pleased with the final placings. Great to see some new people showing their Dandies for the first time. All dogs had good temperament and were unfazed by the experience. My thanks to Maise and Mary for your professional stewarding. No Entries for MPD, PD, JD and Novice dog which was a shame.

Open Dog 1st: France's Ch./Int Ch. Back To My Roots at Luna Caprese with Torbrae
6 yr old Pepper. Beautifully presented looking the CH that he is. A very strong head with soulful eyes, strong underjaw. Powerful body straight front, deep chest. Well-muscled hind quarters. Moved out with enthusiasm. I would like to see Furnishings a little shorter to show his front legs. BD and RBIS.

Puppy Bitch 1st: Tinsley's Cloverwood Here Comes Lulu
Very showy pepper 9 mths old. Delightful Head and sweet expression. Dark eyes and alert. The body is developing well, presenting a clean outline on the move. I really liked her front assembly. Strong in bone. Movement bright and true front and rear. I would have liked a crisper jacket, but she has great furnishing. One for the future. BPIS.
2nd: Jackman's Dryfevalley Willow
Pretty Mustard very feminine, dark eyes. Nicely doomed head and well-placed ears. Front straight and true, chest developing and has good length of loin. The girl is full of herself and when more settled will give her owner fun in the ring.

Junior Bitch 1st: Simpson's Diddimont I Have A Dream
15 mths Pepper. Head developing nicely, the darkest of eyes, good mouth. Nicely constructed girl will be interested to see her when she has grown into herself. Well set hock. Shown in fit condition and moved the best of the 3 when settled. Kindly handled. RBB.
2nd: Renton's Etsill Hesta
Mustard, nice youngster. Pleasing head, soulful eyes, and big teeth. Good angulation all round. Still puppy type coat. The Bouncy movement is typical of one this age. More schooling and she will settle into a show girl.
3rd: Lloyd-Warrington's Diddimont Honey Honey

Novice Bitch 1st: Simpson's Diddimont I Have A Dream
2nd: Hayes & Hook's Diddimont Andante at Karezig
Mustard 14 mth. The sweetest of expressions. Good Head, still developing. Good reach of neck. Round ribs, good rise over loin. Happy girl on the move. Just up against a more balanced one today, but I would like to see her when grown up.

Res: Lloyd-Warrington's Diddimont Honey Honey

Postgraduate Bitch 1st: Fry's Mishahda Pearl's A Singer
Mustard 2 yrs. Stood alone today, but a really nice type. Great muscle tone, a credit to her owner. True to standard, uncomplicated with pleasing outline. Super harsh jacket.

Limit Bitch 1st: Jackman's Dryfevalley Golden Lullaby at Carnkie
What a Charming Mustard, very feminine head, and sweet expression. Dark eyes well placed ears. Front Straight and true with deep chest, well rounded rib. Pleasing rear angulations. Good length of loin with the lovely Dandie curves showing on the move. A very happy girl. I would like to see the furnishing on front shoulder to leg tided up as makes her look out at elbow when she is most definitely not.
2nd: Fry's Mishahda Pearl's A Singer
3rd: Hayes & Hook's Diddimont Andante at Karezig

Open Bitch 1st: Tinsley's Ch. Cloverwood The One And Only
This was a class of two outstanding bitches. The winner is one I saw as a puppy, and she has matured into an absolutely lovely showgirl. Long low and curvy. Gorgeous head and soulful eyes to melt any heart. Neck shapely into well laid shoulders. Deep rounded chest, ideal length of loin. Shapely bend of stifle, well set down hocks with good bone giving her powerful propulsion from the rear covering the ground with balance and grace. A worthy BB and BIS
2nd: France's Ch. Miss Sophie di Luna Caprese at Torbrae
Another beautiful show-girl who gives her all to her handler. She was just outdone by the younger bitch today, but this takes nothing away from the fact she is a lovely Dandie. Super head, delightful expression, never a disappointment to go over.
